The Banks Peninsula Conservational Trust is a non profit organisation. Founded in 2001 it aims to promote conservation and sustainable land management on Banks Peninsula.
Their vision covers 8 main goals which aims to address the following:
- All old growth forest remnants (more than 1ha in area) of Banks Peninsula forest cover are protected and appropriately managed
- Rare ecosystems are protected and appropriately managed
- The connections between land and marine habitats are managed to support viable populations of species that depend on both
- Four core indigenous forest areas of more than 1000ha each have been protected.
- Land primary used for production and for settlement also supports thriving indigenous biodiversity
- Rare and common indigenous species of Banks Peninsula are increasingly abundant
- At least two locally extinct species have been introduced
- Banks Peninsula is effectively free of pest animals
